Chevy High Performance Engines - Good idle (750-850 rpm) - 3.08 to 3.70 gearing - Will work with
stock gearing, transmission, converters - Aftermarket converters
(1800-2500 stall speeds) can improve performance. 15-20 inches

Chevy High Performance Engines - Racey idle (800-1000 rpm) - 3.42 to 3.90 gearing - Aftermarket
converters recommended (2400 to 3000 stall speeds) - 1 3/4" diameter headers recommended for smallblocks; 13-14 inches

Chevy High Performance Engines - Rough idle (1000-1250 rpm) - 3.90 to 4.56 gearing - Limited use
vehicles - Aftermarket converters needed (3500 stall speed) - 1
